About This Course

This course contains self-paced online learning modules that accompany ZOOL223. Animal Physiology (ZOOL223) is an 18-point paper that uses lectures, labs and readings to explore selected topics in animal physiology. The lab programme has a strong focus on experimental design with the opportunity to design and carry out you own research project. Animal physiology is about how animals function in their external environment and how their internal functions work together in an integrated way. In this course, our focus will be on the brain’s response to sensory experience, metamorphosis across a variety of animal taxa, sex and reproduction and environmental physiology. ZOOL223 is a required paper for all Zoology majors, and an optional paper for a number of related disciplines (i.e. Genetics, Ecology, Neuroscience).Include your long course description here. Dr. Sheena Townsend has been excited about teaching and learning for as long as she can remember. She's grateful to have had the opportunity to indulge her interests by teaching in Canada, Japan and New Zealand, while managing stay a student herself for longer than might be advisable for anyone planning ahead. Sheena has a background in Conservation Genetics and Evolution and a fierce interest in student engagement, transformational learning, feedback literacy and learning technology. In her free time, she loves gaming, gardening and fantasy.
